VANCOUVER HOME + DESIGN SHOW PREVIEW PARTY: BUBBLES, BEATS AND BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS

On Tuesday June 18, the Vancouver Home + Design Show threw a bash at Urban Barn’s south Granville location to celebrate exciting new features and big-name presenters appearing at this year’s show, October 17-20 at BC Place. Bubbles were flowing, music was bumping and shopping bags were filled to the brim as guests enjoyed 15% off all in-store merchandise and a first look at this fall’s line-up.

The biggest cheers came with the announcement that Drew & Jonathan Scott of W Network’s Property Brothers will make their Vancouver home show debut, along with local favourites Jillian Harris and Todd Talbot of W Network’s Love It or List It Vancouver, on the HGTV Main Stage. Also revealed was Urban Barn’s Next Top Designer competition, where three finalists will be tasked with designing the ultimate living room using $5,000-worth of merchandise from Urban Barn – along with an assigned design style and colour. Visitors to the show can vote for their favourite look, earning themselves the chance to win the design of their choice! The winning designer’s living room will be displayed at Urban Barn for the last two weeks of October, and they will receive a booth at the 2014 show.

Local foodie darlings Benton Brothers Fine Cheese, Oyama Sausage Co. and Gone Crackers provided the catering spread, much to everyone’s delight.

International Cellars and Parallel 49 supplied enough Segura Viudas Cava and beer options to make even the shyest wallflower chatty, while attending teetotallers sipped Fentimans Rose Lemonade.

 DJ Dirty Margaret spun clean beats that kept toes tapping and heads bopping.
