COLOR, DOWNTOWN RALEIGH HOME SHOW, jewelry, NORTH CAROLINA, RALEIGH, Raleigh Convention Center, SPONSOR, SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT, STYLE, TRENDS, VINTAGE No comments
We're thrilled to have the Go Girl Shoppe joining us at the Raleigh Home Show, February 13 - 15 at the Raleigh Convention Center. Before you see this traveling shop at the show, get the inside scoop on what they're bringing, who they are, and what you can expect from them!
1. What are your featured products this season?
"I don't think we ever have one item that we would call a featured product. All of our items are different and don't fit standard categories. We are always trying to make our items more funky than before, or different. Sometimes an idea pops in our heads and that is the trend that we are on for a while, but we quickly move on to a new one."
2. What can we look forward to from you at the show?
"LOTS of COLOR and patterns."
3. What home design and decor trends are you anticipating for 2015?
"We have really become obsessed with all the new chalk and milk paint brands that are out right now. It seems like every week there is a new one with a new color. It's fun to experiment and mix the colors to see what new color comes out of the mix. I can't say I have a favorite brand though. Every time I try a new one, I like it better than the one I tried before, however they all have different qualities about them that I like."
4. What inspires your products?
"Color and patterns. We are obsessed with trying new combinations. We love mixing the not-so-obvious with one another and sometimes we find that they looked like they belonged together all along."
5. What is your favorite part of the Raleigh Home Show?
"This is our first year attending so we are excited about seeing all the new home decor trends that are out there."
6. What advice would you give homeowners?
"Our advice for homeowners, either first-time or previous homeowners, is don't be afraid of color and don't buy something UNLESS you absolutely love it! People sometimes settle because it's an easy choice or they can't see past what something could be. If it's the right piece but the wrong color, change it. If you find a really cool, funky piece of furniture but aren't sure what will go with it...well, there is always something, it just might take a little time."
7. What is your creativity process like?
"I don't think we have a creative process. When we see a piece of furniture it speaks to us. It's the fun of the hunt. Never knowing what is out there but keeping an open mind and stretching our creativity to do something different."
Don't miss out on the Go Girl Shoppe's fine features and the excitement they're bringing to the show! Buy your tickets early to get the best deals and avoid box office lines. Right now you can get 2-for-1 tickets on Facebook. Bring a friend or family member to the show - we can't wait to see you there!

antiques, appraising, auction kings, CELEBRITY SPOTLIGHT, collectables, discovery channel, dr. lori, jewelry, KANSAS CITY, KANSAS CITY REMODELING SHOW No comments
We’re thrilled to have Dr. Lori, star appraiser on Discovery Channel's Auction Kings, appear at the Kansas City Remodeling Show Feb. 7-9 2014 at the American Royal Center. She can’t wait to bring her talents to Kansas City, so at each of her presentations, she will be appraising a limited number of antiques and collectible items. If you’re interested, bring your hand-carried item to the stage area early to be selected for an appraisal (limit one item per family). Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to find out how much those family heirlooms sitting around your house are worth.
We recently caught up with her and she shared some of her most memorable appraising moments and her unbeatable tips for getting the most out of your items.
What are the top three tips to follow when getting antiques appraised?
- Don't think your antique is worthless just because it is yours.
- Don't let your antique go until you know what it's worth.
- Get Dr. Lori to appraise your antique.
What are the most expensive, scary and strange items you've ever appraised?
The most expensive item I've ever appraised at a Home Show event was Napoleon Bonaparte's personal good luck charm worth over $2 million dollars. I discuss many of the other interesting items (like a $500,000 Tiffany lamp, a copper weathervane that saved a family farm from foreclosure, etc.) in this video from ABC TV's LiveWell Network.
What antiques usually go unnoticed, but are actually very valuable?
Fishing Lures.
What should you look for when trying to determine if an item has value?
Don't let your appraiser buy your antique from you or broker (sell) your antique from you. If you want to sell your antiques, I offer tips in this video from my appearance on Anderson Cooper LIVE:

Finding the time to review all of the objects that people all over the world want me to evaluate. I evaluate 20,000 objects at more than 150 events worldwide every year and I still need more time to appraise all the cool objects.
Describe our Home Show in one word.
