BEHIND THE SCENES: Meet Sales Rep Amber Beaton

Last week, I introduced you to my right-hand man Tyson Kidd. Let’s continue that trend with our next staffer: Amber Beaton, sales representative for the Vancouver Home + Design Show and BC Home + Garden Show. Amber has been with us for a couple of years and was a great fit for our little home show family from day one – she and Tyson are my sales dream team! Here’s a little look into what Amber’s all about.

What’s your regular coffee order? Tim Horton’s, 2 cream 1 sugar (boring!)

What was your first job? Dairy Queen (glamorous!)

Most memorable career moment to date: Winning a trip for two to Dallas to see a Cowboys game for the most new business acquisitions in the entire company!  Not even a year later, I followed that up by winning a trip for two to New York to watch a Rangers game for most booth renewals in the company.   Both very memorable!

If you weren’t in your current occupation, what would be your dream job? Real Housewife of Vancouver – that’s a job, right?

Any embarrassing on-the-job moments you’d like to share? Oh geez, where do I begin? Too many to mention!

What design trend or item are you coveting for fall? Light! With fall and winter just around the corner, my plan is to focus on accent lights (such as chandeliers) and the overall ambience of my space.

What is your favourite room in your home and why? The kitchen! It is the heart of the home and I love to cook.

The last item you bought for your home: Blackout drapes for the master bedroom. A great investment!

How do you keep your home looking great? Any tricks of the trade? Maids! Haha! And I try to can the clutter – having a place for everything is key.

What movie or program is at the top of your Netflix queue? Currently my favourite program is Sons of Anarchy.  I am so excited for the new season to start tonight!

What songs are on repeat on your iPod? You can call me DJ Random! I love The Black Keys, Blake Shelton and everything in between.

Name the fictional character with whom you most closely identify: “Monica” from Friends.  She is extremely competitive which I can closely identify with.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?  Don’t sweat the small stuff!  Cliché, I know, but very true!
