Behind the Scenes: Meet Sr. Sales Rep TYSON KIDD

Welcome back to reality, everyone! Don’t you find that the first day after Labour Day long weekend always feels like a return to real life, no matter whether you’ve worked or lounged (I wish!) all summer long?

Speaking of working, my fabulous team is hard at work on the Vancouver Home + Design Show, October 11-14 at BC Place. We’re six weeks out, so what better time to introduce you to my little team that could? The Vancouver Home + Design Show may be the fourth-biggest consumer show in all of the Lower Mainland, but our big production is put on by just four people (and a whole whack of contractors and vendors, who we’d be lost without!). I’ll be profiling each of my lovely colleagues this month so you can meet the personalities behind the scenes.

Today, meet Tyson Kidd – one of my besties, and the senior sales representative for the Vancouver Home + Design Show and BC Home + Garden Show. Tyson’s been a part of the team for five years now – so long that I barely remember my life without him! Here’s just a few of the reasons why we – and our valued exhibitors – adore him so much.

Any embarrassing on-the-job moments you’d like to share? Far too many to recall. Spend some time with me and you’ll quickly realize that I make a fool of myself daily!

Describe your design style in five words or less: Clean, simple, minimal, crisp, modern.

What design trend or item are you coveting for fall? Natural wood – faux or finished birch.

What is your favourite room in your home and why? My bedroom – calm, quiet, cozy and air conditioned. A must!

The last item you bought for your home: Stretched canvas prints from Fertile Designs.

How do you keep your home looking great? Any tricks of the trade? Clean daily. Doesn’t have to be much, but always tidy – and make time for a thorough clean weekly. Envision your home as the show home for your neighbourhood.
