Red Cross Central and Western Oklahoma Region Helps Visitors Plan for Storm Season
Springtime is Mother Nature’s way of waking up from a long winter’s
nap. But spring’s severe weather events can also remind us of her wrath. At
this year’s OKC Home + Outdoor Living Show March 21-23, the Red Cross Central and Western Oklahoma Region will help visitors prepare for
unpredictable weather disasters this season can bring. Visit their booth to
learn valuable information such as:
Making an
Action Plan
The Red Cross recommends that everyone Be Red Cross Ready by completing three easy
steps:
- Get a kit.
- Make a plan.
- Be informed.
At the Show, Red Cross volunteers will be available to
help you develop an effective action plan for you and your family. Get
information about assembling a disaster preparedness kit, creating a list of
emergency actions and putting together a contact list of helpful resources.
Tornado Mobile
App
The Red Cross has created several free mobile apps,
including the official Tornado
App, to put disaster preparation in the palm of your hand. Real-time severe
weather information, simple step-by-step advice and interactive quizzes help
make disaster preparation easy. Download the app directly from the iTunes or Google Play app stores.
Disaster
Recovery Help
The Red Cross has partnered with several organizations
to form The Oklahoma Disaster Recovery Project. This collaboration helps people
navigate the disaster recovery process by identifying community resources that
can help meet emergency, immediate and on-going needs.
For more information about The Oklahoma Disaster
Recovery, visit the Red
Cross website or call 1-866-477-7276.

While the changing season offers beautiful flowers and warmer temperatures, don’t be unprepared for wild weather events that Mother Nature can also bring. Visit the Show and stop by the Red Cross exhibit to learn how you and your family can be weather aware. You can also stroll through the Storm Shelter Feature to shop and compare nearly 20 storm shelter companies. And if you are a resident of Moore, just show a valid driver’s license with your Moore address for free admission all weekend.
