Spring Shades of Blue
Recently featured at our GTA Home Show in Toronto, this tablescape by Target features Threshold items that are loaded with spring and summer flavours. We've fallen in love with the use of orange as an accent colour and their use of table runners as place mats.
Also featured at our GTA Home Show was the 'Blue & White and Spring All Over" tablescape created by Cobi Style with furnishings from Alta Moda. Featuring sky-high green and blue lanterns a table loaded with intricate details and Asian-influenced accessories, this table is sure to get you in a spring/summer mindset.

Oh yea, this tablescape is pretty serious! Recently featured at our 2014 GTA Home Show in Toronto, this stunning Game of Thrones inspired table was created by Emmanuel Belliveau, creative director at Floro and FloroHome. While this may be a little too extravagant for your Easter or Thanksgiving decor, some Game of Thrones-type inspiration can still be incorporated into your dinning room. Find more highlights below and start thinking about how you can apply some of these dramatic trends this season!

As Canada’s only restaurant dedicated to Cheese, CHEESEWERKS
offers a full range of ooey gooey delights including Mac + Cheese, Nachos,
Quesadillas, Grilled Cheese and House-made Soups. All are made with fresh, local ingredients and
served with their house-made Sodas, small–batch Craft Beers or local Wines from
the Niagara or Prince Edward County regions.
CHEESEWERKS CHEDDAR + ALE SOUP
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup, Butter, salted
2 Celery stalks, diced
1 medium Onion, chopped
1 medium, Carrot, peeled and chopped
1/3 cup flour
1 cup 10-35% Cream
1 ½ cups Beau’s All Natural Lagered Ale
1 ½ cups Chicken or Vegetable Stock
2 cups Balderson Aged Cheddar, shredded
Salt + Black pepper, to taste
ADD
Hot Sauce + Worcestershire Sauce to taste
DIRECTIONS
1. Melt the Butter in a high sided soup/stock
pot.
2. Add the Onions and cook until golden
brown.
3. Add the Carrot + Celery and continue to
sauté for a few minutes more.
4. Stir in the flour and continue cooking for
a few minutes more. (making a thick roux / paste)
5. Pour in Ale, Stock and Cream and simmer
until the soup has thickened. Approximately 3-6 mins.
6. Add the grated Cheddar, melt and stir
until combined and smooth.
ADD to taste
Salt and Pepper, Hot Sauce + Worcestershire
Sauce
ENJOY: Serve
with a slice of artisan bread or grilled cheese / or top with pretzel croutons.
*TIP: If the
soup is too thick, add warm Beer. If the soup is too thin, add more Cheese.

Hey parents, it's that special time of year again, the kids are heading back to school! But with all the excitement of a new school year comes the stress of preparing your little ones for another successful year. Of course, the'll need the usual supplies, but what could make this transition a touch simpler on you? Well...check out our quick list below!
1. The Organization Board
If you don't have one already, get one! Whether it's a cork board, white board, chalk, etc., this organized command center will help out the whole family. Dinner plans, chore lists, important phone numbers, put 'em all there and you'll be forever grateful.
2. The Homework Station
Whether it's in their rooms, at the dining room table, or in your home office, the kids need a designated homework station. This space will become part of their routine, and will include all homework essentials (laptop, pencils, dictionary, etc.). If you don't have one already, talk to the kids about where they would like to do their work, this way they can be a part of putting their workspace together.
3. The Snacks
Of course, we don't expect you to spend hours in the kitchen preparing snacks for school, but it's always nice to explore a few new recipes. Take some time and dig through fun cooking websites like www.snapguide.com or www.foodgawker.com. This little web crawl could be a fun activity to do with the whole family. Get everyone excited about cooking and eating healthy!
Here's one of our favorite recipes...
4. The Kids' Closets
Before you do your back to school shopping STOP and go through the closets with your kids, do a little organizing and purging. You'll be sure to find some long lost treasures!
5. The Labeling
This task is very simple. Before your kids step foot in the school, LABEL EVERYTHING! Label with a permanent marker, stickers, tape, or iron on labels...whatever medium works best for the item.
6. The 'Goodbye Summer' Party
After you've completed all of the above, have a little fun. Throw a 'Goodbye Summer' party in your yard. This doesn't have to be too fussy, a little salad bar, some chips and salsa, and maybe some homemade popsicles! Invite friends and family, play some music, and have a hula hoop contest. While it may not seem like much, the kids will truly appreciate this final summer jam.
