We caught up with the painting expert herself to get the scoop on this season’s design trends and her favourite tricks of the trade. 

Name one thing any homeowner can do to instantly perk up their pad for under $100.

Paint the furniture of course! In fact, a pot of paint and some wax goes a very long way. You could paint a dresser, a chest of drawers, a chair or even a small side table.

What is your favourite design trick?

My favourite design trick is to paint the floor or the furniture. It makes such a huge difference! Painting the furniture is incredible because all that dingy brown goes away. Instead of having a mish mash of different types of wood, painting the furniture can unify the space.

What trends and colours are you majorly into for Fall 2013?

More blue and green combinations are going to be big this fall. A stunning bright blue looks amazing on vintage 20^th century furniture.
