We're proud to announce our love of symmetrical home decor, particularly in the living room. With symmetry as a goal, a space ends up looking cleaner and more organized, it's also a great way to create a successful space without having rack your brain about what should go where.
2. While most of the items in this space are similar, notice the small differences in the table decor. These subtleties are a unique touch!

1. This space is extremely symmetrical, even down to the plants in the window! Notice how the symmetry in this room works to maximizes seating options.

5. The symmetry in this cozy country space makes it a perfect room for social events like afternoon tea or game night.

6. Notice how the purple in the chairs is tied in with the purple lamps on the opposite side of the room. This color helps to balance the space.

Our Living Room Challenge is over, and congratulations to our winner LYNNE KNOWLTON!
In our hunt for North America's most fabulous living room; we saw a large variety of beautiful spaces! While the challenge was tough, Lynne's beautiful white space prevailed with an amazing 104 votes.

"As a family of 6 (wowsers !) we spend most of our time in the kitchen with family and friends. As a designer and blogger, I truly believe that everyone should have a sofa in their kitchen ! It is a great conversational area and a fun space to really enjoy and chillax.
Our home is a 100 year old farmhouse with an adult sized treehouse too. I am so inspired by the trees and nature around me, and all the organic elements it has to offer. I love working with elements that are already present around me. Green moss, twigs, river rocks, and boxwood.
The curtains in the living room were hung with twigs (from the treehouse trees) for an added interest. Lighting is from West Elm and the sofas were completely affordable from Ikea. The Ikea sofas are a slip cover design & therefore so very easy to maintain. (Don't let all the WHITE scare you, it is super easy to take care of).
We literally use the space every single day. Not a bit of space is wasted. We love love love it and hope you do too ! The room has such a positive energy & natural look/comfortable feel ...and is heated by a vintage elmira wood stove in the kitchen. We can sit in our (kitchen) living room and enjoy the smell of bread baking in the oven. YUM !!
