This year we're thrilled to have the BC SPCA on board for the Vancouver Home + Design Show, happening October 16-19, 2014 at BC Place Stadium.

Keep scrolling to read over our exclusive interview with this fantastic organization and make sure to buy your tickets to see them (and their furry friends) at the show!

What can we look forward to from you at the show?

We'll have about 10 real-size dog and cat cutouts, all sponsored by Made in Print, at our "Bring Love Home" booth and throughout the show. Each will have a unique QR code and by scanning the QR codes with a smartphone, guests will see all of the adoption information for that animal. We encourage the public to take pictures with the "animals" and post them to social media (a screen will be set up in our booth to live stream tweets).

Smiley Cheese will also be sponsoring a photo booth during the event where the public can enjoy a fun photo booth experience with our "animals".

People interested in adopting animals are welcome to come to our booth to view adoptable animals online and meet some cute kittens that are looking for a forever home. Guests can also learn more about the adoption process by talking to any of our knowledgeable volunteers.

We will also have animal behaviour experts available at our booth from 1:00 - 4:00PM on Saturday and Sunday to provide free pet training and behaviour tips for the public.

What advice would you give to homeowners looking to get a pet?

The unconditional love and companionship of  an animal can make any house a home. The best relationships start with a good "match". Choose a pet that best fits your needs and lifestyle. Every animal has a different personality and activity level, and the BC SPCA's adoption counsellors have lots of experience to help you find your new best friend.

What is the motivation behind your "Bring Love Home" campaign?

A while ago we read about a Singapore shelter campaign that brought real-size animal cutouts into local IKEA stores and displayed them alongside furniture. The message behind this campaign touched our hearts - a house becomes a home with animals.

This is how we, along with Made in Print, came up with the idea of displaying local shelter animals for adoption at the Vancouver Home + Design Show.

What advice would you give pet owners to maintain their household?

Good training and understanding your pet's needs and behaviours are the keys to success. The BC SPCA offers a wide range of training and behaviour tips on our website.

What are you most excited for at the show?

We can't wait to see our "animals" surrounded by high-end furniture and home decor, while meeting future pet parents!

The Vancouver Home + Design Show is coming up fast - buy your tickets soon to get the best deals. Right now you can get two tickets for the price of one when you like us on Facebook. Treat a friend or family member to the show. We can't wait to see you there!
