Bryan Baeumler, COLIN AND JUSTIN, CORBIN TOMASZESKI, METRIE MAIN STAGE, SAMSUNG COOKING CHALLENGE, ULTIMATE UPCYCLE CHALLENGE, URBAN BARN'S NEXT TOP DESIGNER, Vancouver, VANCOUVER HOME + DESIGN SHOW No comments
After four incredible days at last weekend's Vancouver Home + Design Show, we had to say goodbye. We know it's hard, but all good things must come to an end - and what a whirlwind weekend it was!
Missed the show? We've curated our favourite moments to make you feel as though you were there for every important moment.
Our favourite Scots, Colin & Justin, brightened up the Metrie Main Stage with their signature humour and styling tips for bringing Canadian cottage style into any home.
The one and only Bryan Baeumler took to the Metrie Main Stage to share his renovation know-how with his adoring Vancouver fans.
Things heated up on the Vancouver Magazine Cooking Stage with the Samsung Cooking Challenge: Tag Team Kitchen, hosted by Chef Corbin Tomaszeski. Elaine Vuong and her professional partner, Geoff Rogers of Blacktail Florist, beat out the competition and Elaine walked away with $5,000 worth of Samsung Appliances. What a win!
Urban Barn's Next Top Designer: Reloaded stole the show when three local undiscovered designers and decorators went head-to-head in the ultimate micro-management exercise. Each contestant designed a 150 square-foot space with $5,000 worth of Urban Barn furniture and accessories for display (and public vote). The winner, up-and-coming decorator Dexter Dolores, went home with $1,000 to Urban Barn, a feature in Westcoast Homes & Design magazine, and a 10x10 booth at the Vancouver Home + Design Show, 2015. Congrats, Dexter!
The Ultimate Upcycle Challenge 3: ChairLIFT raised over $600 for Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver and their affiliated ReStores. The chair with the top bid? That went to the friendly decorator herself, Christine Friend, for her fun and sporty Canucks chair.
We're also proud to announce the winners of the Best Booth Awards, including:

2 FOR 1, BC PLACE, Bryan Baeumler, CORBIN TOMASZESKI, Floform Lounge, Survival Guide, Vancouver, VANCOUVER HOME + DESIGN SHOW, VANCOUVER HOME AND DESIGN SHOW, VHDS14, Western Living Magainze No comments
The Vancouver Home + Design Show opens today! Now until Sunday at BC Place Stadium you can take in seemingly endless celebrity presentations, expert ideas, and more! We couldn't be more excited to share our fabulous features, renovation tips and tricks, design ideas, and culinary creations with you all weekend long.
With so much going on, you may need to pace yourself. Read our show survival tips below to hit the Vancouver Home + Design Show like a pro.
1. Come Prepared
Wear comfortable footwear - BC Place Stadium is a huge building, and you don't want to get tripped up by sore soles. Plus, grab a free bag (or two) from our generous exhibitors and you'll have the perfect spot to throw oodles of samples, coupons, and more.
2. Slow Down
Don't rush through the show or you'll miss the best bits. Arrive early, stay late, and take your time. There's plenty to see and do to keep you entertained all day long. When you need to rest your feet, head to the Floform Lounge and enjoy a change of scenery with a copy of Western Living Magazine and a glass of Church + State vino. You'll also find snacks at the ready - or if you crave something a little more filling, check out the food court options like Steveston Fish & Chips and Vij's.
3. Stick to Your Schedule
Have a favourite celebrity guest that you just have to see? Create a schedule so you never miss a minute. Better yet, set alarms for yourself so you know where you have to be and when. Don't forget to keep your show map with you - no one likes getting lost!
4. Be Ready to Buy
Nothing's worse than falling madly in love with the perfect product at the show and not having the cash on hand to make it yours. Many of our exhibitors take credit, but just in case, have some cash at the ready.
5. Take Notes
You're only human, you can't be expected to remember everything you hear at the show. Whether you're listening to Bryan Baeumler, cooking with Chef Corbin, or getting the low-down at the Ask a Designer booth, be ready with pen and paper (or smartphone, on silent) in hand!
6. Stay Up to Date
BC Place has free wifi and we'll be live tweeting all weekend long. Make sure to follow us at @VanHomeShows to get the latest information on giveaways, presenters, and the best booths. Have something to say? Share it with us using #VHDS14! You never know, you could win a prize (hint, hint).
Now that you have these tips, put them to good use at the show! Haven't bought your tickets yet? No worries. Right now you can get two tickets for the price of one when you like us on Facebook. Bring a friend or family member to the show; we can't wait to see you there!
