For those of you that weren't able to make it, we've rounded up our favourite moments from the show! Be sure to make your calendars for the Calgary Home + Design Show, coming to the BMO Centre at Stampede Park from September 17-20, 2015.

Carson Arthur from HGTV Canada's Critical Listing took to the Home + Garden Stage to share his know-how on adding value to outdoor spaces.
The crowd loved design duo and co-owners of Parker barrow, Janette Ewen and Jef Hancock, as much as their advice on quick fixes and updates for the home.
With DIY projects on everyone's to-do list (Pinterest, anyone?), many a show-goer got crafty with Blue Grass Nursery, building terrariums and mini gardens at Contain Yourself.
Home Tweet Home was the talk of the town, helping worthy families by auctioning off artfully-designed birdhouses by 20 of Calgary's media personalities and designers. In total, $2,535 was raised for Ronald McDonald House® Southern Alberta.
The revolve home was undoubtedly the biggest showstopper - literally. Shoppers stopped in their tracks to check out the mod eclectic beach design, created by the experts at revolve furnishings.
Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for a great show! Until next time, happy gardening!

ALBERTA, BMO CENTRE, Calgary, CALGARY HOME AND GARDEN SHOW, ROOF, shingles, SIDING, SPONSOR, SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT, Tony William Roofing & Exteriors No comments
We're thrilled to have Tony William Roofing & Exteriors joining us at the Calgary Home + Garden Show, February 26 - March 1 at the BMO Centre & Corral. Here's an inside scoop on what's happening at Tony William Roofing & Exteriors and what you can expect from them at the show.
1. What are your featured products this season?
We focus mostly on high quality products resulting in long lasting roofs and exterior renovations. For instance:
2. What can we look forward to seeing from you at the show?
We are focusing on spending time with potential customers! Our booth will showcase a display of some of the materials we use - however, we will be mostly using our space at Booth #667 as a meeting place to discuss future projects with potential customers and show them how Tony William Roofing & Exteriors is different. We stand alone among our competitors in Calgary because of our commitment to the little things. There are so many details involved and decisions to be made when thinking about starting an exterior renovation project of any size. The Calgary Home + Garden Show is such a great opportunity to discuss all the details and answer everyone's questions.
3. What home design and decor trends are you anticipating for 2015?
Homeowners are looking for a company and products that can withstand the test of time, not to mention the variety of weather that a home is exposed to here in Calgary. While the featured products we listed above are on point with home design and decor trends for 2015, the real trend heading into 2015 is "fortifying" your home: making the roof and exterior strong and durable while being sharp, classy, and timeless. We are entering a time where insurance companies are changing the way they operate when it comes to replacing storm damaged items on homes, often significantly increasing deductible amounts. The money customers do spend needs to count, and they need to be assured that the products being used and the company who applies them will be long lasting in our unique and volatile climate (weather and marketplace).
There is also a greater interest in building roofs and exteriors that are more efficient and environmentally responsible. Our product warranties are available from 25-50 years and offer advanced wind protection. Not only will your home be 'fortified' by using durable products, it will have a better insulation rating, and products chosen will not be in the landfill/need to be replaced in 10 years.
4. What inspires your products?
Our true "product" is service: the absolute best customer service. This is inspired by our desire to put quality and integrity back into our craft. We provide a service that allows homeowners to achieve the function and look they have envisioned for their home. The inspiration for the products we choose is customer driven: what is your vision? What is the absolute best product we can install to bring that vision to life while staying within the budget you have set out for your project? Our inspiration is you!
5. What is your favourite part about the Calgary Home + Garden Show?
In addition to meeting other exhibitors and seeing the products and services they have to offer, our favourite part of the show is getting face time with our potential customers and having a chance to speak to people about what we do and how we do it. Getting our name out there. Getting an opportunity to show potential customers how Tony William Roofing & Exteriors is different, and hear their questions and concerns about moving forward with a project, and sometimes even forming long lasting relationships! That is why we exhibit at the show year after year.
Don't miss out on Tony William Roofing & Exteriors' innovative products and exceptional customer service. Visit their booth at the Calgary Home + Garden Show and learn how they can help you with your next home improvement project. Don't have tickets yet? Right now you can get 2-for-1 on Facebook - bring a friend or family member to the show, we can't wait to see you there!
1. What are your featured products this season?
We focus mostly on high quality products resulting in long lasting roofs and exterior renovations. For instance:
- Malarkey Roofing products: a family run company that takes great pride in product quality. Malarkey leads the industry in terms of advancements in technology that bring asphalt shingles to the next level of innovation in roofing. Malarkey shingles recently developed a designer shingle - Malarkey Windsor - and it was Tony William Roofing & Exteriors who sold the first Windsor roof in Calgary.
- Hardie siding: a fibre cement siding which brings beauty, safety, and durability. The end result: a timeless exterior.
- Longboard Siding and Soffit are a favourite of ours as well: long lasting, no maintenance. You get the richness and beauty of wood without the upkeep, and always have a sleek, precision finish.
- Kayu Batu: bringing the beauty of exotic rain forest wood to the exterior of your home here in Calgary. It is functional, durable, and accentuates curb appeal. This and other quality products applied to your home's exterior by Tony William Roofing & Exteriors complement nearly any other siding product application.
- Celect siding by Royal: this revolutionary siding product comes in a variety of colours simulating wood finish without the maintenance.
- Shakertown: genuine natural colour grain of Western Red Cedar transforming homes into a work of art.

ALBERTA, BOUQUETS, Calgary, CALGARY HOME AND GARDEN SHOW, DIY, DIY TIPS, Gardening Tips, GARDENS, Home + Garden Stage, Joanna Tzavaras, Lil' Pink Daisy Florals, SUCCULENTS, TERRARIUMS No comments
Yes, it's that time of year again - spring is in the air and flowers are in bloom. Owner of Lil' Pink Daisy Florals and Calgary Home + Garden Show Home + Garden Stage presenter, Joanna Tzavaras, is gearing up for the season and sharing her top three tips on how to complete the perfect garden-inspired DIY projects. Whether you're contemplating new planters, looking to improve your floral arrangement skills, or dreaming up new centerpiece ideas, Joanna has just the advice for you.
DIY Flower Pots
Planters are a great way to add a pop of colour and curb appeal to your outdoor space, especially when displayed with the plants of your choice. Be aware of your planter size when choosing garden flowers or plants, and make sure to keep the temperament and type of flower in mind. Choose flowers that only complement each other aesthetically, but also have the same needs. For example, flowers that require full sun should be planted together, and flowers that require partial sun or shade should be planted just the same. This will not only increase the longevity of your new masterpiece, but it will give you the most bang for your buck.
Combine Colour Palettes
You should never be afraid to combine colour palettes among your floral arrangements, especially if you love high impact bouquets. Use your imagination to mix various types of flowers in different colour families and textures for a swoon-worthy arrangement. For outdoor entertaining during the spring and summer, the brighter the better!
Maintenance-Free Centrepieces
We've all heard about them before, and their longevity paired with their modern aesthetic makes them the plant type of choice for months to come! Succulents are great for long lasting table centrepieces, especially for outdoor dining. Terrariums, in particular, are not only stylish and low-maintenance, they are also really easy to create. Find yourself a fishbowl and let the layering begin! Add moist soil, and choose 3-4 small succulents to plant into the dirt. Next, add rocks or beach glass, and finish with moss to add texture and a fresh pop of colour. Voila - it's as simple as that!
For more floral decor tips, don't miss Joanna Tzavaras on the Home + Garden Stage at the Calgary Home + Garden Show on Thursday, February 26th at 2pm. Remember to buy your tickets early for the best deal. Right now, get 2-for-1 tickets on our Facebook Ticket Deals.

ALBERTA, Calgary, CALGARY HOME AND GARDEN SHOW, DAFOE DESIGN, GARDENING, gardening myths, Gardening Tips, Home + Garden Stage, Joanne Dafoe No comments
Let's face it, not everyone is born a natural green thumb - but it's never too late to improve your skills in the garden. Look to landscape designer Joanne Dafoe, owner of Dafoe Design and Home + Garden Stage presenter at this year's Calgary Home + Garden Show, for some insight on how to become the best green thumb you can possibly be.
Catch her on stage on Friday, February 27th at 5pm and Saturday, February 28th at 5pm, at the Calgary Home + Garden Show, and get a sneak preview of her favourite garden tips below! Whether you're looking for easy garden maintenance tips, edible garden ideas, or secrets to the lushest garden on the block, she's got you covered.
Shady Secret
Aside from what everyone thinks, shady areas in the backyard are not always a bad thing. Some vegetables and herbs actually thrive in cooler conditions, including swiss chard, lettuce, parsley, and arugula. Try planting these healthy greens in cool corners as opposed to sunny spots in your garden - trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Winter Pruning
Winter is not a time to ignore the garden, especially when it comes to pruning your trees and shrubs. If you have multiple trees in your yard, late winter is the optimal time to prune them, as the leaves are long gone and the branches are easy to trim. Pruning your trees will help support new growth on remaining branches, preparing them for the spring months. Most trees can be pruned in the winter, with the exception of Birch and Maple, which can wait to be pruned in the summer months.
Go Organic
Going organic does not have to be restricted to your diet. Do your garden a favour by using natural fertilizers rather than harmful chemicals, found in most fertilizers. A prime example is seaweed - not only will it support the plant, but it will also feed the soil surrounding it, making it an optimal natural stimulant.
For more tips on how to achieve a lush, healthy garden, don't miss my presentations on the Home + Garden Stage at the Calgary Home + Garden Show on February 27th and 28th at 5pm. Remember to buy your tickets early for the best deal. Right now, get 2-for-1 tickets on our Facebook Ticket Deals.

At this year's Calgary Home + Garden Show, it's all about spring inspiration for your home - both inside and out. In anticipation of the show, we've rounded up our top five favourite home trends to embrace for 2015. From marble to rose gold, authentic wood to simple succulents, these trends are here to stay.
Marble Furniture
Marble has made a comeback once again, and the trend is more popular than ever. From classic white marble countertops to tabletops in every size, kitchen accessories, and birch-like coat racks, this timeless, muted material is sure to brighten up any room.
Gold has returned as the go-to metal for everything from fixtures to hardware, but its copper-toned cousin has been introduced to the home like never before, including kitchens, bedrooms, and dining areas. Sleek, sophisticated and bold, this metal screams trendsetter.
Organic, raw wood has never gone out of style, but mixing this authentic look with different materials and colours adds depth and dimension to an otherwise drab space. Pair with sleek, modern Eames chairs or a glass tabletop for an ultra-modern mix.
Succulents have been on the scene for a few seasons now, and they're not going anywhere. Popular for their effortless maintenance and simplicity, these plants will give any room an instant refresh, appearing brighter, cleaner, and modern.
HGTV's Carson Arthur, this year's Main Stage celebrity presenter, is all about bringing the indoors outside. Creating livable, relaxing outdoor spaces is his forte, as seen through his work on HGTV's Critical Listing. Furniture choice for your outdoor space is key to making the space feel like an extension of your home.

ALBERTA, BMO CENTRE, Calgary, CALGARY HOME AND GARDEN SHOW, Carson Arthur, celebrities, JANETTE EWEN, JEF HANCOCK, Preview Party, SHOW FEATURE No comments
What a beautiful night to remember! On January 28th, Calgary's top media, designers, and bloggers took over The Farmer's House to celebrate the 34th annual Calgary Home + Garden Show preview party. With insider access to the show's upcoming features, farm-to-table nibbles, and interactive gardening DIYs, guests enjoyed an evening of wining and dining with snippets of what to expect when the show comes to town.
This year's Main Stage celebrity presenters include HGTV's Carson Arthur, design duo Janette Ewen and Jef Hancock, local interior designer Heather Draper and floral guru Joanna Tzavaras.
Guests swarmed the Blue Grass Nursery DIY table to try their hand at creating full-sized terrariums - plants, rocks, moss, and all. Participants left the event with their expertly crafted plants in hand. Design one of your own with the experts at Blue Grassy Nursery, who will demonstrate how to build your own indoor gardens or terrariums from start to finish. Register for a workshop taking place in the Corral on our website.
Interiors to Inspire left the crowd wanting more with their adorable distressed garden statues - perfect additions to sparse Calgarian gardens. Our team took their hand at creating new garden friends to add a touch of colour to their home.
Guests sipped and snacked on mouth-watering drinks and high-tea inspired canapes, courtesy of The Farmer's House, Steam Whistle Brewery, and Whitehaven Wines.
To bring colour to our soiree, Main Stage presenter Joanna Tzavaras of Lil' Pink Daisy Florals, created beautiful floral arrangements and a one-of-a-kind vintage floral frame.
Special thanks to everyone who made it out to celebrate with us - you made the night unforgettable. We can't wait to see you at the Calgary Home + Garden Show, taking place February 26 - March 1 at the BMO Centre & Corral. Remember to buy your tickets early to get the best deal - right now you can get 2-for-1 on our Facebook Ticket Deals.
