As we bid goodbye to yet another year, we set our sights on 2016 and everything shiny and new that comes with it. Hot on our radar are 2016 design trends, and what better way to incorporate them into your home than with a little local expertise? We caught up with Sherri Cowlthorp, Principal Decorator and Owner of Inclusive DesignGroup, to get her design forecast for the New Year.

Mixed Metals: Copper, silver or gold? This year, you don’t have to decide between them. Mixing metals is all the rage for 2016, so let your imagination run wild. Pro tip: throw in some metallic shimmer for an added luxe effect.

Statement Pendants: It’s time to pack away the trusty chandelier in favour of an eye-catching pendant. With varying colours, sizes and shapes to choose from, you’re bound to find the perfect fit for your home. Say hello to the new star of your room.

Glam Family Rooms: 2016 is officially the year of the glamorous family room. Forget stringing together tired and ‘safe’ furniture pieces. Instead, opt for fabrics and furniture that are not only durable but 100% stylish. Pro tip: mix textures and shape to up the ante of your new favourite room.

Have you been keeping healthy with your snacking?  To help boost your energy before hitting the gym, we're sharing our recipe for healthy energy bites!  No baking needed, these delicious treats average out to about 75 calories per bite (depending on if you add dried fruit), and are loaded with all the nutrients you'll need before starting your workout!

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup peanut butter (organic)
1/3 cup honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup ground flaxseed or wheat germ
2/3 cup toasted coconut flakes
1 cup dry old-fashioned oatmeal
Feel free to add walnuts, almonds, raisins, etc

NOTE: You can to substitute peanut butter for almond, hazelnut, or sunflower seed butter (so the kids can bring these to school).
