Joining Tyson and Amber and rounding off my brilliant team behind the Vancouver Home + Design Show is our operations coordinator, Chelsea Campbell. An event planning pro who loves what she does, Chelsea is the one who makes sure things are running smoothly and on schedule at all times. Needless to say, stress levels are always significantly reduced when she’s around! Everyone, meet Chelsea.

THE PROFILE

Name: Chelsea Campbell

Occupation: Operations Coordinator

Birthdate: November 30

Horoscope sign: Sagittarius

Hometown: Tsawwassen, BC

What’s your regular coffee order? I try not to drink coffee on a regular basis. During a show, though, the more the better! I don’t care what kind, as long as it’s caffeinated.

What was your first job? I was a janitor for some nearby apartment buildings. I cleaned the hallways and common areas. Glamorous, right? Ha.

Most memorable career moment to date: Working at Robson Square during the Olympics. It was very surreal, and a pretty incredible event to be a part of.

If you weren’t in your current occupation, what would be your dream job? I would still be working in the event industry, probably for a non-profit. I love what I do.

Describe your design style in five words or less: Clean, crisp and simple.

What design trend or item are you coveting for fall? I love the idea of repurposing furniture. Using a piece in a unique way that you may not otherwise have thought to use it is a great way to be creative and save money. I’m all about the savings! I’m super-excited to check out the Ultimate Upcycle Challenge at the show for inspiration.

What is your favourite room in your home and why? My bedroom. It’s large, and bright, and it’s where I feel most relaxed.

The last item you bought for your home: It’s been a while… I am in the market for some new art though.

How do you keep your home looking great? Any tricks of the trade? Having a roommate that is a bit of a neat-freak helps!

Home gadget you can’t live without: My Jambox speaker – I can’t do anything at home without some music!

What movie or program is at the top of your Netflix queue? Right now, Mad Men and Dexter.

What songs are on repeat on your iPod? Anything by The Black Keys.

What’s on your Kobo reader/iBook right now? I prefer real books, but I’m a HUGE fan of Game of Thrones (yes, I’m a geek).

Name one natural talent you wish you had: I wish I was more musically inclined. I love singing along to music when I’m alone, but really, no one but my dog needs to hear that.

Subject you could wax poetic about/that fascinates you: Psychology. I love learning about people. I find it incredibly fascinating to try and understand how people work.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? My dad’s favorite saying when I was growing up was “Life’s not fair.” It’s not my favorite saying, but it is relevant.

What’s your personal mantra? My favorite quote by Gandhi, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
