Archadeck, Des Moines, DES MOINES HOME AND GARDEN SHOW, exhibitor profile, EXHIBITOR SPOTLIGHT, FATHER'S DAY, Gift Ideas, IOWA, Outdoor Decor, Outdoor Entertaining, OUTDOOR FURNITURE & ACCESSORIES No comments
Don't just treat Dad to a great Father's Day, help him have an amazing summer. The folks at Archadeck can transform your outdoor space into the ultimate backyard paradise. Surprise Dad with the perfect spot to relax with friends and family, or just on his own after a long day at work.
We sat down with the Archadeck team to talk about their services and how they can help homeowners create the outdoor space of their dreams. Check out our interview below.
What are your featured products this season?
"Covered spaces - a roof over a deck or patio space - have become one of our most in-demand spaces. An open porch provides shade, protection from the elements, and a certain coziness factor with the roof and finished ceiling, while at the same time providing a full outdoor feel. If bugs, additional privacy, or element protection are a concern, these structures can also easily be configured as screened-in porches. Amenities included in our open and screened-in porches depend on our clients' needs and lifestyle, but range from ceiling fans and recessed lighting to outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, infrared heating systems, outdoor TVs, and more."
What home design and decor trends are you anticipating for the rest of 2015?
"Outdoor living spaces continue to evolve as homeowners desire more family and entertaining space. Homeowners also want these spaces to be as functional and stylistic as the indoor features of their home. Because of their outdoor nature, products and materials that are as low maintenance as feasible and withstand outdoor climate changes are also in high demand."
What inspires your products?
"Our custom design/build services bring our outdoor living spaces to life at your home. From idea to the first gathering on your new deck, porch, or patio, Archadeck's 18-year tenure in Central Iowa - and over 30 years, nationally - provides the experience and resources to get it all done for you. Our design studio in Urbandale helps facilitate the process, but it all starts with a complimentary design consultation to assess your interests and site options."
Is there any additional information you'd like to share?
"Outdoor furniture is also a key component to the enjoyment of any outdoor living space. Archadeck's franchise partner, Outdoor Living Brands, Inc., recently partnered with Casuwel, a manufacturer of premium outdoor furniture and accessories, allowing Archadeck and our sister franchises to sell Casuwel's product lines at exclusive savings. In our design process, we can even configure specific Casuwel pieces and collections to ensure appropriate layout, sizing, and spacing of the furniture in your new (or existing) outdoor spaces."
We hope this helps you get a jump on your Father's Day shopping. Need more ideas? Make sure to watch your inbox for our Father's Day Gift Guide! If you aren't already receiving our community emails, subscribe now. We'll send you timely, valuable info as well as exclusive ticket deals and more.

- Create a list of questions that you'd like to ask the experts. Once you get to the show, you might forget some of your questions. Start making a list of questions that come to mind before you get to the Iowa Events Center.

Tiny Houses are usually between 100 and 400 square feet, compared to 2,600 square feet, which is the average size of a typical single-family home.
What are some of the benefits of a Tiny House?

What will 3D photography offer?
- Allows a potential buyer to virtually walk into any room in the house and look up and down. It has a similar feel to Google Street View, but takes place inside a home.
- Creates a 2D floor plan of a person's actual home.
- Creates a 3D dollhouse view which removes all exterior walls, allowing a buyer to get a feel for the layout of the home. The viewer can then enter into a room and look around.
- Interested buyers can use a measuring tool to make sure their furniture will fit into the existing space.
- You'll be able to change the wall colors and place simulated furniture such as coffee tables or seating throughout the house to plan possible decorating ideas.

Jennifer Blevins and Amanda Geary's Change Table, featured at our Washington Home + Garden Show
As many of you may know, we at Home and Garden Events love to upcycle furniture. We spent the majority of our last home show season asking you to vote on upcycled pieces from all over North America, and now it's time to stop the competition and showcase some of our favorite pieces.
Before we showcase our faves, check out this great video on how to easy upcycle a lamp and dresser. With a little sanding and paint, you can really improve an old piece of furniture.
