We're thrilled to have Hedberg Landscape and Masonry Supplies joining us at the 2016 Minneapolis Home + Garden Show. With over 25 years in business, this innovative company was built on service, and remains focused on their valued customers.

Hedberg Landscape and Masonry Supplies is Minnesota's largest wholesale and retail supplier of landscape hardgoods, masonry products, water garden supplies, and custom stone fabrication. They're committed to helping their customers be more successful through offering high levels of customer service, experience, professional grade products, and passion.

Make sure to visit the Hedbeg Landscape and Masonry Supplies team in Booth 1225 while you're at the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show! Can't wait to see their exciting new products? Read on to catch a sneak peek at what they'll be bringing to the show, and learn what design trends they're anticipating for 2016!

Will you have any featured products this season?

"Hedberg is beginning 2016 by featuring the Tandem Wall retaining wall system from Belgard. Homeowners can install patterned walls with the appearance of chiseled stone. It allows for straight or curved walls as well as free-standing walls.

We’re also featuring a new product line from Rochester Concrete Products, the Vintage 6 retaining wall system. Vintage 6 is a three-piece tumbled wall system that builds straight or radius walls and seat walls without requiring cutting."

What can visitors expect to see from your company at the 2016 Minneapolis Home + Garden Show?

"Our exhibit is a mock-up of a house’s front yard and back yard. It includes: a paved driveway, patio, back yard, water feature, planter/seat wall, and additional features. We encourage attendees to stop by and relax. We’re also going to invite attendees to register for our 2016 School of Rock DIY seminars. By coming to our booth, they can see the full schedule for all three Hedberg locations and sign up for seminars at any one of them."

What home and decor trends are you anticipating for 2016?

"Current design trends may have a bit to do with sustainable design principles. Clay brick is seeing a resurgence – for both home exteriors and for pavers. Some projects are even specifying reclaimed brick, and we have actual handmold brick from Glen Gery. As people find more and better sources for reclaimed wood, they’re using it particularly for accent walls.

In back yards, bubbling rock fountains and pondless waterfalls are replacing or complementing ponds and regular pools because they’re fun to watch and easy to maintain. We predict more interest in rustic gabions for privacy walls and garden art. The gabion is an ancient landscaping device.

People are also discovering that prices have decreased for some natural stone to the point where they are nearly equivalent with those of manufactured stone, so they’re using thin veneer natural stone for exteriors and interiors."

What inspires your products?

"We’re best known for natural stone, concrete pavers and walls, masonry and water gardening. Our products are natural, timeless, resilient, and fundamental. The finishes and features we offer support many types of decor, from traditional to modern to rustic to neoclassical. We enable this through offering a wide product selection, decades of experience with trusted suppliers and custom fabrication of stone."

What's your favorite part of the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show?

"Our favorite part of the show is acting as trusted advisers to homeowners who are seeking solutions. Our mission is to help our customers be more successful, regardless of products. We often end up introducing homeowners to licensed contractors who are also at the show. Based on the conversations we have at this show, we tune into people’s dreams for their home and help them realize those visions."

What is your creative process like? How do you work with clients?

"We engage homeowners at multiple points along the project path. Sometimes homeowners visit one of our locations and see a project or a finish that they like; other times they visit our website and see a project gallery; still other instances they are sent by a professional to Hedberg to make selections. We have arguably the best masonry showroom in the metro area, where customers can take their time with pleasant, knowledgeable staff to select products for their projects."

The Minneapolis Home + Garden Show takes over the Minneapolis Convention Center for two weekends this year! Join us February 26-28 and March 4-6! With hundreds of home and garden experts, appearances from Drew and Jonathan Scott, The Property Brothers, and tons of decor ideas and inspiration, this is a must-attend event for Minnesota homeowners!

Once again, the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show's "Man on the Avenue", Products Expert Sasha Andreev, will give us the inside scoop on the best new products of 2015. Exhibitors have been invited to submit their best and brightest new, cool products or services as part of professionally designed display pods. Visit "Innovation Avenue LIVE" on the Ace Hardware Paint Studio Lifestyle Stage on Wednesday, February 25th at 7pm, Friday, February 27th at 5pm, and Sunday, March 1st at 2pm.

Here's a sample of some of this year's products that Sasha has deemed worthy of being showcased:

3M Window Film (brand new product) from Columbia Window Film and Graphic: 10x less costly than installing new windows, this film can upgrade your existing windows to nearly the performance of new windows.

Baker's 13 Designer Silicone Baking Mats: Non-stick silicone baking mats make baking easier and are a statement of personal expression in the kitchen. The colorful graphic is an integrated, patented "cookie dough target" helping bakers of any age space their cookies perfectly. They replace the need for expensive parchment paper, non-stick spray, and aluminum foil. Baker's 13 is perfect for cookies, but it's also great for all types of foods including biscuits, rolls, roasting vegetables, frozen foods, nachos, and even making candy!

Cabot Oil-Modified Wood Stain: This product boasts the benefits of durability and look of oil stain, with the ease of application and cleanup of a water-based stain. Unlike conventional oil products, you can apply over damp wood, and have a longer staining season - meaning starting earlier in the spring and going later in the fall. The stain has a mold/mildew resistant finish that protects your wood against damage from water and UV rays. Clean, stain, and entertain!

Folding Sport Wagon with Canopy from Creative Outdoor Distributor: Haul supplies and transport your gear, kids, or pets with this steel and canvas wagon that features 120 lb capacity, a canopy, cooler basket, and rugged wheels for any terrain. The patented design allows for the wagon to collapse and store easily when not in use.

Miele's "Smart" ranges from Warners' Stellain: On Innovation Avenue you'll find the 30" induction cooktop range with touch controls, backlift precision knobs, convection fans, 21 operating modes, moisture-plus steam function, automatic programs controlled by the touch control, and even a wireless roast program that automatically helps regulate the oven temperature.

Smart Living Soup Maker from Ocean Sales Ltd.: This appliance blends and gently cooks the ingredients for perfect homemade soup, and you can check out the progress on the digital interface with countdown timer. The Smart Living Soup Maker has a stylish design with a 1.6 liter capacity to cater for up to six people.

Heated Single: This is an energy-efficient, simple, retrofit solution to prevent the formation of ice dams. Heated Shingle is an electrical system that caps over a home's existing roofing system to heat any areas susceptible to ice damming.

DryAway by Jilidoni Designs: These permanently placed bamboo drying racks can be installed in a custom cabinet, from the ceiling or in a standard closet, for efficient, energy-free drying.

4ever Garden Elevated Container: One of the newest garden products on the market, 4ever Gardens are elevated garden beds designed to help you grow beautiful flowers or vegetables in any space, save your back, and stand the test of time. Each sleek, easy-to-set-up garden bed is made from recycled plastic and manufactured in MN.

At the end of a long, cold, dark Minnesota winter, show-goers will delight in visiting the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show's nine Feature Gardens! A perennial favorite, the 2015 Feature Gardens' theme is Twin Cities Best Backyards and will showcase nine landscapers' take on the area's best outdoor spaces.

This year's categories include:
  • Boulder Creations by Stonewall: Imagine dozens of huge boulders creating a cozy, two-level patio area and fire pit, and that's what you'll find here. And when we say boulders, we're talking one-to-three tons each!
  • Northwest Orient by Holm & Olsom Landscape Design & Construction: The team went all out to transport show-goers to Japan with this one. There will be an outdoor kitchen, bamboo kakei spout fountain, petrified wood water feature, and gravel garden. But wait, there's more! Japanese maple trees, pom-pom junipers, mugo pines, and hydrangeas.
  • Come On Over by Bever Landscape Design Group: Technology meets the outdoors here, with music, lighting, and an AV system all together. The color-saturated garden beds will please the eye and the ears are treated to music playing, and let's not forget to mention the TV and outdoor kitchen!
  • Rustic Luxe Kitchen Garden by Mickman Brothers: Fire, wood, metal, water, and earth all come together here to blend into a harmonious feng shui element. This contemporary, chef-inspired urban backyard mixes with wall-mounted waterfalls and a double-sided fireplace to really take you away.
  • Shangri-La by NRD Landscape Design + Build: An ultimate retreat for you and your family, this space has an edible garden, custom screening, and the element of fire for extreme relaxation.
  • Outdoor Ambiance by Landstyle Design + Construction: Minnesotans will take delight in this series of outdoor environments that match our ever-changing climate. There's an outdoor kitchen, a unique bar, and multiple water and fire features.
  • Reflection by Gray Leaf Design: Elegance meets modern in this garden that is flexible enough to provide both relaxation and entertainment. We're talking a floating deck over a reflecting infinity pool, and custom-built furniture flanking the outdoor kitchen.
  • Sustainable + Contemporary by Biota Landscape Design + Build: Contemporary design married sustainability for this garden, boasting a traditional pergola with a series of unique water elements as a beautiful example of how to capture rainwater.
  • Fabulous Formality With A Twist by Oflora Garden: International flair is alive and well here, with a labyrinth leading you through hedges of compact dwarf conifers to a patio surrounded with red and yellow tulips, and stunning contemporary outdoor sculptures.

As you can see, there's no shortage of stunning beauty and inspiration at this year's Feature Gardens. Don't forget your camera so you can begin planning your own oasis! Build a two-story house in just five days inside a giant hall. That was the task at hand for Viebrock Construction as they tackled the annual Idea Home for this year's Minneapolis Home + Garden Show. The home will be the centerpiece of the show, which takes place February 25 - March 1 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

The 2015 Idea Home theme is Active Living, appealing to today's dynamic lifestyles that require more room and plenty of flexibility. This is the second year Viebrock Construction has built the Idea Home and it's been a terrific situation for them to display their talents, get creative with materials, and mesh it together with unique designs.

Situated on an angle of a 4,800 square-foot lot, the finished home will be nearly 1,400 finished square-feet. The exterior will feature steel seam roofing for greater longevity, fewer seams, and a sleek style. The home's siding looks like natural wood but actually has a longer life, allowing for better durability.

Inside the home you will discover an open floor plan, featuring a living and dining room with a luxury vinyl floor that appears to be finely weathered oak. Don't miss the dining table, crafted from Douglas Fir that was reclaimed from an old barn, and the accompanying chairs are covered in removable upholstery, making them a cinch to clean. HOM Furniture provided the furniture and collaborated on the design concept.

The Idea Home's landscape designers, The Garden By The Woods, have been very busy as well, creating one-of-a-kind landscapes to complement this year's Idea Home. You'll find pivoting garden walls, a private sitting area, and a neighborhood gathering space. Not to be missed is the way-cool meditation area, as well as the courtyard that transitions to a sports court!

Viebrock Construction is based in Osceola, Wisc. and has been designing and building homes in Wisconsin and Minnesota for over 56 years. For more information check out their website or call 715-294-2188.

An estimated 70,000 people are expected to walk through this year's Idea Home during the five-day show. Make sure you're one of them! Buy tickets early to avoid box office lines and get the best deal - right now you can get 2-for-1 tickets on Facebook!

We're pleased to have Machine Age Lamps joining us once again at the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show, February 25 - March 1, 2015 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Before you see this unique exhibitor at the show, enjoy our interview with them below...

Name: Shawn Carling

Booth Number: 2325

Describe your products:
"Handcrafted lighting from salvaged, re-purposed 18th and 19th century antique gauges, gears, and components from early American factories, warehouses, boiler rooms, and industrial machinery."

What are your best home and garden tips?
"Don't get caught up in changing your entire decor to match an industrial theme. Single unique pieces of industrial steampunk lighting make for great conversation pieces and can be very nostalgic."

Will you have any show specials?
"Our lighting is very unique and is essentially a one-of-a-kind creation. We are seeing more and more people purchase out lighting to remind them of a simpler time or for someone that has everything. We can take more any theme and make a unique lighting gift!"

What are your biggest home and garden pet peeves?
"Trying to find good quality steam gauges and old artifacts."

What is your favorite part of the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show?
"Ideas! We have a chance to talk with thousands of people; listening can give us a lot of great ideas!"

Any additional company information you think we should know?
"I have always been drawn to antique architectural elements that show the effects of time. Machine Age Lamps evolved from the first build of a tractor dash lamp for my father as a gift to remind him of his life growing up on a farm. The artistic use of vintage pieces, tarnished and time-worn, speak to people emotionally, reminders of the past. I hope that your Machine Age Lamp will create an interesting, one-of-a-kind addition to your home!"

Don't miss Machine Age Lamps at the Minneapolis Home + Garden ShowFebruary 25 - March 1, 2015. Build a two-story house in just five days inside a giant hall. That was the task at hand for Viebrock Construction as they constructed the annual “Idea Home” for the 2014 Minneapolis Home + Garden Show. The home will be the centerpiece of the Show to be held Feb. 26 – March 2 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

"An estimated 70,000 people are expected to walk through this year’s Idea Home during the five-day Show."

“This year’s Idea Home theme, ‘Rustic Luxury,’ has been an element of design for us on several homes over the past decade,” says owner Tom Leiskau of Viebrock Construction. “We are excited to display our talents and creative material usage with our unique designs.”

Situated on an angle of a 4,800-square-foot lot, the finished home will be nearly 1,700 finished square feet. It will feature several renewable resources as well as engineered and reclaimed products. Highlights of the eat-in kitchen include luxurious custom-built cabinetry and solid surface heated countertops. A cozy stone fireplace with a mantel made of reclaimed timber is the attention-grabber of the living room. A salvaged barn door slides open to the master bedroom.

The Idea Home’s landscape designers, The Garden By The Woods, created an outdoor kitchen sitting area using a metal-domed pergola. A freestanding hydroponic wall garden will provide privacy as well as tasty veggies!

Once completed, the house will be fully-furnished by HOM Furniture who designed the interior to keep with the “Rustic Luxury” theme.

Viebrock Construction is the first Wisconsin-based company in the past five years to build the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show’s Idea Home. Based in Osceola, Wisc., Viebrock Construction has been designing and building homes in Wisconsin and Minnesota for over 56 years. For more information, visit www.viebrockconstruction.com or call 715-294-2188.
