Buffalo, BUFFALO CONVENTION CENTER, BUFFALO HOME SHOW, EXHIBITOR, EXHIBITOR SPOTLIGHT, GARAGE, GARAGE DOOR, National Overhead Door, NEW YORK, WESTERN NEW YORK, WNY No comments
We're excited to have National Overhead Door joining us at the 2016 Buffalo Home Show. This family owned company has been serving Western New York homeowners since 1955. For over 50 years they've prided themselves on their fast, reliable sales and service, along with their friendly staff and excellent products.
National Overhead Door understands how important the safe and proper operations of your door are residentially, and to your business, and for this reason provide same day and 24 hour emergency service. They're ready to help with maintenance advice, emergency repair, and more.
Make sure to see the National Overhead Door team in Booth 134 at the Buffalo Home Show. Can't wait that long? We caught up with some of their experts to see what they've got planned for the 2016 show. Check out our brief interview below!
Please describe your product.
"National Overhead Door is a full service garage door company specializing in residential and commercial repairs and replacements of garage doors, openers, man doors, and much, much, more! We carry many of the best products this industry has to offer including but not limited to: Raynor Garage Doors, Richards Wilcox Doors, Marantec, and Liftmaster Operators, and the infamous Lifestyle Garage Screen System! We are fortunate to work with some of the finest companies in the industry (which we've listed above). We have personally witnessed each of these companies stand behind their products and ensure customer satisfaction from start to finish and beyond whenever an issue has arisen down the road. We also are known for our 24/7 emergency service, which we offer for both commercial and residential customers alike. No job is too big or too small, so if you are in need of a repair or replacement on any of the products we have discussed please call our office to schedule a service call or free estimate!"
What are your best tips for homeowners this season?
"Some of our best tips for homeowners going into the winter months would be: lubricate your doors! Use a silicone based lubricant and spray a little on your rollers, springs and chain (if you have a chain driven opener). Also, to avoid your door freezing to the ground we suggest spraying a little lubricant on the bottom rubber of the door. Clean off your photo eyes on the safety sensors to free them of dust and cob webs that may have accumulated over the summer months. Make sure they are aligned, meaning both are lit and not blinking. If you think you have an issue with the safety sensors, please call our office to speak with customer service for additional suggestions or to schedule maintenance. Change outside and top weather seal around outside perimeter of door if you see it is ripped/worn/warped as this can help keep the cold and snow out of the garage this winter. On the very snowy days, make sure to shovel all snow away from door (prior to opening if possible) to avoid extra moisture/ice from forming. Power outages...If you find yourself in a power outage situation and your vehicle is inside of the garage (assuming you do not have the battery back up opener feature), pull the red emergency release cord to lift your door manually. When power is restored, you must re-engage the opener to connect it to the door again. If you need assistance with this please call our office to speak to customer service or to schedule maintenance. If you have a vaulted garage (with no man door) with an electric opener that does not have battery back up capabilities on it, you should have an emergency key release installed on your door to be sure your vehicle (or snow blower) does not get stuck in the garage in case of a power outage."
What are your featured items this season?

What is your favorite part about the Buffalo Home Show?
"We always look forward to the Buffalo Home Show, not only because it kick starts our spring season but for many other reasons as well. We enjoy meeting new potential customers as well as seeing many familiar faces of our past customers. The Buffalo Home Show is nice for us because it gets us out of our regular routine in the office and out meeting new people and helping/informing others while we are at it. We always get very excited in the days prior to the home show starting and love the first time we walk in to see our booth set up and continually making improvements on the display. We do look forward to this years home show as we have in the past and can't wait to see what 2016 has in store for our company!"
Is there anything else you think folks should know about your company?

BATH CRASHERS, Buffalo, BUFFALO CONVENTION CENTER, BUFFALO HOME SHOW, BUFFALO NIAGARA CONVENTION CENTER, CELEBRITY, CELEBRITY SPOTLIGHT, DIY, DIY Network, HGTV, Matt Muenster, NEW YORK, WESTERN NEW YORK No comments
The Buffalo Home Show welcomes celebrity Matt Muenster, host of HGTV's Dream House 2015 and DIY Network's series Bath Crashers on March 14 & 15 at 1pm and 4pm.
Licensed contractor Matt Muenster earned his degree in interior design from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Matt initially designed restaurants and casinos, though his interest shifted to the residential sector before beginning his television career hosting Bath Crashers. Matt sees every project as a chance to use his clever ideas to achieve great design while integrating earth-friendly elements.
We asked Matt a few questions in anticipation of his trip to Buffalo.
Q: How did you get started in design and remodeling?
Matt: "I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin, which led me to being handy - fixing stuff with my dad. I then got my degree in interior design from UW Madison and practiced professionally for about 10 years before the TV gig happened."
Q: What has been your favorite remodeling project so far?
Matt: "I don't pick favorites. It's like choosing my favorite child. I like to think my favorite project is always my next one. Keeps me hungry."
Q: What is your go-to tool for 2015?
Matt: "If you don't already own a Kreg Jig you're missing out. It makes so many projects we do fast and easy. Best $100 you can spend on a tool."
Q: Why do you choose to focus on remodeling bathrooms?
Matt: "I didn't. The show picked me. I then had to immerse myself into this world. I had no idea I'd still be here doing bathrooms 2 series and 16 seasons later. It's a fascinating space to specialize in - endless possibilities."
Q: What is one simple pro tip you would give to start-up DIY-ers out there?
Matt: "Plan your work. Work your plan. Always know what's next - it will save you time and money, and keep you from making expensive mistakes if you have a game plan for every step of your renovation."
Come out at meet Matt on March 14 & 15 at 1pm and 4pm at the Buffalo Home Show. The show's second weekend kicks off on Friday, March 13th. Don't have tickets yet? Get 2-for-1 on Facebook and treat a friend to the show.

Get space saving and de-cluttering ideas at the Cargotecture-Inspired Container Living feature designed by the Interior Design Association of WNY at the Buffalo Home Show. Come out and see this affordable and minimalist trend up close and be inspired by how large designers have made these small spaces feel.
This unique style of design is built partially or entirely from one or many of the estimated two million empty, recycled ISO shipping containers that sit idle at any given time. Making use of these otherwise vacant cargo containers is an environmentally-friendly way to create an original and inviting residential space.
Local professional interior designers from the Interior Design Association of WNY have re-imagined how a Buffalo city lot could be transformed by two distinct cargo containers: a 8'X40' container and a 8'X20' container. With the help of Sound & Theater, these containers will be given a high-tech twist. The overhauled cargo containers will host invisible speakers and none of the electronics will be exposed inside the display either - you'll have to see it to believe it!
The Buffalo Home Show continues at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center March 13-15, 2015. With home and garden celebrities, local professionals, and hundreds of experts ready to help you with your next home improvement project this is the home and garden event of the season. BEER, Buffalo, BUFFALO CONVENTION CENTER, BUFFALO HOME SHOW, CRAFT BEER TASTING, NEW YORK, WESTERN NEW YORK, WNY No comments
Guests at the Buffalo Home Show can start their weekends off by celebrating the authenticity and creativity of local brews at the new craft beer corner presented by 103.3 The Edge on Friday, March 6th and 13th from 6-8pm.
Small and independent WNY brewers will be creating a buzz at the show offering free samples of a variety of the finest craft beers the area has to offer. From Flying Bison to Big Ditch, Saranac and many more, guests will be treated to a wide selection of local brews to try. Tom Ragan from the Shredd & Ragan Show will be there as well to meet, greet, and sip with visitors!
Ragan is heavily involved with the crew at Niagara Traditions, one of the earliest homebrew shops in WNY, and is a support of the Buffalo Brewfest.
During the 19th century, massive amounts of grain were transferred into Erie Canal boats bound for the east coast. Not all of that grain left town though. The leftover grain fueled the strong brewing industry WNY has today. Small, local breweries will pay homage to this proud Buffalo tradition Friday nights at the Buffalo Home Show.
Come on out for your chance to win lots of prizes and discover new, local, independent brewers. The Craft Beer Corner will be running Friday March 6th and 13th at the Buffalo Home Show. Don't have tickets yet? Get 2-for-1 tickets on Facebook. Bring a friend to the show and enjoy a cold one!

Buffalo, BUFFALO CONVENTION CENTER, BUFFALO HOME SHOW, CELEBRITY, DIY, DIY TIPS, FLIPPING THE BLOCK, HGTV, John and Whitney Spinks, NEW YORK, REMODELING, UPCYCLE No comments
The Buffalo Home Show welcomes dynamic husband and wife duo, John and Whitney Spinks, from the popular HGTV program Flipping The Block, Saturday March 7th and Sunday, March 8th at 1pm and 4pm.
From easy, affordable DIY hacks to tips and tricks that will lavishly transform any interior on a tight budget, John and Whitney's insights are sure to give anyone a leg up in their next big renovation project. They will also share behind-the-scenes secrets from the show, including before-and-after pictures and how they won so many room challenges on a tight $37,000 budget.
The young couple from Jacksonville, Florida became instant stars on Flipping The Block, taking on three other teams in a home makeover challenge. John's background in building construction management and Whitney's passion for interior design go hand-in-hand. Together, their creative renovation techniques transformed fixer-upper condos into beautifully upgraded properties that landed the biggest resale value in the end.
We asked the Spinks a few questions to help us gear up for their presentations this weekend.
Q: What has been your favorite remodeling project thus far?
John & Whitney: "Our favorite would have to be the full renovation we completed on a 960 sq. ft. condo on HGTV's Flipping The Block. The place was a total dump to begin with, and the Before & After photos show that anything can be beautiful after some much needed love."
Q: What is your go-to tool for 2015?
John & Whitney: "Does a tool box count?! We just purchased a rolling tool box, which is so convenient to wheel everything that e need right out of the truck! The tools that we use all the time (drills, drives, hammers, etc.) are always handy."
Q: What is one simple pro tip that you would give to start-up DIY-ers out there?
John & Whitney: "Start small! It takes time to develop your skills, so don't give up when projects fail. Because they will! Just keep going and you'll get familiar with what works and what doesn't. We started with paint - painting furniture, then building furniture, then trying out hand at tiling, etc."
Q: What one piece of advice or tip would you give to people who plan to attend the Buffalo Home Show?
John & Whitney: "Not only is the home show a great place to get inspiration, but also don't be afraid to ask questions about the products you are interested in. If you are preparing for a kitchen remodel, ask the kitchen vendors about the different cabinets they carry."
John and Whitney Spinks are ready to prove to visitors that home renovation doesn't have to be overly complicated. The Buffalo Home Show hopes to see you get inspired at the Spinks' interactive presentations on Saturday, March 7th and Sunday, March 8th at 1pm and 4pm. Don't have tickets yet? Make sure you check out Comfort Windows & Door Inc. at the Buffalo Home Show, March 6-8 & 13-15 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
Before you see this exciting exhibitor at the show, get to know them a little better in our interview below...
Name: Joe Schaus
Booth Number: 567
Describe your products:
"Windows (made in NY) - only company in Buffalo that offers this! Doors, siding, sun rooms, insulation, bathroom remodeling (one day), basement remodeling, awning, decks."
What are your best home improvement tips?
"When hiring a home improvement company, make sure they don't use subcontractors. You're protected if the company you hire has fully-insured employees. In short: subcontractors are paid per item, not for a job completed with customer satisfaction as a top priority."
Will you have any show specials?
"Low interest items at or below 4.99%. No interest & no payments for 18 months (ask for more details)."
What are your biggest home and garden pet peeves?
"Companies that mislead customers."
What's the oddest client request you've heard?
"'Do you stand on your windows?' My response was "We don't stand on our windows, we stand behind them."
What's your favorite part of the Buffalo Home Show?
"Meeting new customers and educating them as to how we protect their investment."
Any additional company information you think we should know?
"Four time BBB (Better Business Bureau) Torch Award winner for marketplace ethics! #1 home improvement company in Upstate NY!"
The Buffalo Home Show takes over the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center for two weekends only - March 6-8 & 13 & 15! With hundreds of exhibitors ready to help you with your home and garden projects, it's the home and garden events of the season.
