This Father's Day give your Dad something that will last. While exterior paint often needs touch-ups and maintenance, Hoosier Permanent Coatings does not. This unique product has the look and feel of paint, but is applied 10 times thicker. And that means you and your Dad will never have to paint again.

We sat down with the Hoosier Permanent Coatings team to talk about their services and what they can do for homeowners. Check out our interview and get ready to surprise Dad.

What are your featured products this season?
"Hoosier Permanent Coatings provides a permanent exterior coating that looks like fresh paint but is applied ten times thicker. It produces a smooth-to-the-touch finish that is long lasting, breathable, and extremely durable. It needs to be applied once - guaranteed - yet year after year, maintains a fresh coated appearance. The Hoosier Permanent Coasting system is virtually maintenance-free and meets or exceeds all EPA standards."

What inspires your products?
"Before Hoosier Permanent Coatings were available, homeowners only had the options of painting their homes or installing vinyl or aluminium siding. Paint, while flexible and affordable, is a temporary solution to a perpetual maintenance problem (similar to renting). Vinyl, on the other hand, offers a more permanent solution, but comes in limited color choices and often gaps, fades, or becomes a nesting ground for insects and other pests.

With our revolutionary product, we now give homeowners a better choice. Our permanent exterior coating looks like fresh paint but acts more like vinyl. Even as our product serves to protect and beautify the exterior of your home, it uniquely preserves the character and charm of the surface materials: stucco still looks like stucco; brick still looks like brick."

What advice would you give homeowners?
"As our motto says, stop painting forever! Hoosier Permanent Coatings is the best way to beautify and protect the exterior of your home. It can be applied to any exterior surface material, will look better than paint or siding, and lasts longer than either one!"

We sat down with the Pools of Fun team to talk about the variety of outdoor lifestyle goods they offer, and how they can help bring the fun to your backyard. Check out our interview below.

What says more about summer than a cookout? We would like to introduce the Pappy's Campfire Cooker. This product is made in Indiana and brings out the nostalgic campfire experience. We also have the Big Green Egg, Louisiana Grills, and Traegar Grills. We have any accessory you could possibly need to have the best grilling experience around. Not sure what to get Dad for Father's Day this year? LeafGuard suggests putting an end to one of his least favorite chores: cleaning the gutters. Don't worry, no one is implying that you should take on the task! The LeafGuard Gutter System is a revolutionary tool that fits over your gutters, allowing water to come in, but keeping dirt and other debris out.

Sound too good to be true? It's not! We sat down with the LeafGuard team to talk about their awesome product, what it means for homeowners, and more. Check out our interview below.

What are your featured products this season?
"We only sell the LeafGuard Gutter System. We have added Rain Barrels and Rain Chains to our system for our environment-conscious clients."

What can we look forward to from you at the 2016 Indianapolis Home Show?
"We will have more staff available this year to answer more questions. Our new displays will be presented for the first time at the show."

What home design and decor trends are you anticipating for the rest of 2015?
"People are becoming more environmentally (green) concerned. Items like Rain Chains and Rain Barrels offer a beautiful look to the home while being creative in the use of the rain coming out of their gutters."

What inspires your products?
"Our sources of inspiration are:
  1. Keeping the leaves and debris out of gutters so clients never have to clean them again.
  2. The look of the LeafGuard Gutter System is very unique; we are truly one-of-a-kind. No other company has or can have a one-piece seamless gutter and gutter debris removal system."
What is your favorite part of the Indianapolis Home Show?
"Talking with the homeowners and being a small part of the dream they have for their homes."

What advice would you give homeowners?
"Do your homework. There are companies who say their products are 'leaf guards'. But they are not anything like the LeafGuard Gutter System."

LeafGuard is the only Gutter System with the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.

What is your creative process like?
"All of our systems are manufactured on the customers' properties. They're made right in front of the customer, to fit the home we're at."

We hope this helps you get a jump on your Father's Day shopping. Need more ideas? Make sure to watch your inbox for our Father's Day Gift Guide! If you aren't already receiving our community emails, subscribe now. We'll send you timely, valuable info as well as exclusive ticket deals and more.

The show boasts a fully-constructed, decorated, and landscaped Centerpiece Home built entirely inside the Expo Hall by Fischer Homes.

The Fischer Homes team unveils a brand-new home design, the Paxton, and it has an East Coast feel with its distinctive combination of materials, interesting angles, and well-placed windows.

The Paxton is the first of its kind to be featured at the Indianapolis Home Show. The home is designed for comfort - each type of living space is on its own floor. The main floor is for entertaining, with an open kitchen and great room, while the owner's retreat is just a few steps away. The additional bedrooms have their own level allowing for more independent living spaces. The home is also built to include a basement for the first time in home show history!

Presented by Home Pro/Bath Pro of Central Indiana, home-design celebrity Ty Pennington appears for one presentation ONLY on Saturday, January 31 at 11am on the Unilock Outdoor Living Stage in the West Pavilion.

"We could not be more thrilled that Ty is coming to Indianapolis for the 2015 Indianapolis Home Show," said Home Show Manager, Laura Groninger. "From TV host and carpenter to his book and charitable work, Ty is certainly a foremost figure in the world of home improvement and design. What are you best home or garden tips for this season?
"One of our best tips for this season is to switch your landscape beds from mulch to decorative aggregates. There may be a great expense initially, but ultimately you will save money by eliminating annual mulching and maintenance."

What are your featured items this season?
"Our featured item this season is natural stone pavement from Oakville Stone. Oakville Stone boasts a wide selection of both colors and textures of stone that can offer looks that will work in the most traditional, as well as, the most contemporary of outdoor spaces. Due to Oakville's exacting measures of quarrying and fabrication to a precise thickness, installation is a snap. Did you ever wonder what happens to the food donated to a food bank? What happens when a family in need takes home those donations and prepares a meal? You will get an inside look with a special event returning to the Indianapolis Home Show: the Choppin' Hunger Challenge II.

A new study by Feeding Indiana's Hungry and Feeding America shows one in six Hoosiers, or an estimated 1.1 million people in Indiana, turn to food pantries and meal service programs to feed themselves and their families. Of the households served by Indiana's food banks and assistance programs, 43% include a child under 18, and 25% include a senior aged 60 or older.

So how can you chop hunger and help Hoosier families get a nutritious and filling meal? Donate to your local food bank or food pantry, and make sure you are giving the right type of food.

Participate in the Choppin' Hunger Challenge II at the Indianapolis Home Show! Watch great Indiana chefs, Sam Brown and Nick Mayes, as they battle to win the challenge of creating a unique, delicious meal from chop baskets filled with items from Indiana food banks.

Home show attendees are encouraged to come sample the meals and will also have the chance to learn about the most desired food items needed by Hoosier families. Then, consider making a donation - especially spices, which are seldom donated.

Attendees will also receive a packet of recipes developed using foods shoppers can pick up at Gleaners - you can also find them online. This exciting program was created by the American Dairy Association of Indiana, Gleaners Good Bank, Second Helpings, and CICOA - all working to eliminate hunger in Indiana.

Watch as Indiana chefs compete for the best meal. Stop by the Choppin' Hunger Challenge II on Saturday, January 24 at 11am on the Unilock Outdoor Living Stage for your chance to help truly chop hunger and learn how all Hoosiers can enjoy warm and filling meals every day of the year.

Licensed contractor Matt Muenster gets an adrenaline rush every time he transforms a boring bathroom into a fantastic one on the DIY Network's Bath Crashers series. We hope you'll get an adrenaline rush seeing him at the Indianapolis Home Show. Matt will be appearing live on the Unilock Outdoor Living Stage January 23 - 25, 2015. But before you see him at the show, enjoy our interview with him below.

Marketplace Events (MPE): What got you interested in interior design?
  • Matt Muenster (MM): "It was a course I took in college on architectural history - it got me passionate about design and helped me to focus. From there I enrolled in the interior design program and never looked back."
MPE: Ok, why bathrooms? Is the bathroom typically a room that needs the most renovating?
  • MM: "Bathrooms happened because the show happened. I was designing almost every type of space available until this opportunity came along. What this has done though is help me focus on one space and learn all there is to know. What I've learned is it's not only the hardest room to renovate in your home, but the payoff from a successful renovation, both financially and emotionally, is the greatest. It's an underutilized and underrated room in every home - and my job is to change all that."
MPE: What's the first thing you look at when updating someone's bathroom?
  • MM: "Size - and anything we can do during the renovation to make it bigger. After that, every bathroom demo is exactly the same. The challenge is putting it back together. No one bathroom is more challenging than another; it's all about making it work for those who are using it."
MPE: What are a couple tips people can use to help renovate their bathroom on their own?
  • MM: "Have a plan before you start. Know everything about the step you're working and the next two or three down the line before you even begin. Plan your work, and work your plan. Also, know your limitations. If you've never worked with plumbing before, a few YouTube videos or a book probably isn't going to teach you all you need know. Bite the bullet, and hire skilled labor where you can make big mistakes yourself. The overall outcome will be that much better."
MPE: Have you been to Indianapolis before? What advice do you hope to give Indiana residents at the show?
  • MM: "I have. I was there for the Super Bowl a few years ago. I hope people come out to the show and my presentations with questions to ask. I definitely want to impart my knowledge on bathroom design, but I will have a lot more fun if I can interact with everyone and answer their questions. It keeps me on my toes and is infinitely more interesting to me!"
Join Matt at the Indianapolis Home Show on January 23 - 25 to learn how you can upgrade your most-used room with ideas, inspiration, and practical remodeling advice! The Touch of Class team uses soft colors and timeless pieces to create an eclectic vision in the 2015 Indianapolis Home Show Centerpiece Home master bedroom.

For the bed and nightstands, gracefully-shaped architectural forms of Italian, French, and Belgian origin are accentuated by a wire-brushed artisan finished with a reclaimed character.

With an artist's eye, the over-the-nightstand scones skillfully mix modern with rustic, elegant with casual, and romantic with relaxed. It's an eclectic vision that resonates with natural style and a modern new look at how we live today.

Accent chairs next to the fireplace feature the timeless feel of a brushed ikat pattern in soft blues and browns with the aged charm of stripped-down finish layers on the carved arms and front posts.

A wool rug under the bed is a natural undyed handwoven 100% wool rug with mixed tones of cream, taupe, and gray throughout the braids. And a shag rug next to the fireplace sitting area is New Zealand wool at its finest in a plus pile of lush super-soft white wool.
With a preview like this you've got to come see the finished product at the Indianapolis Home Show. The Fischer Homes Centerpiece Home is just one of many reasons to attend the show. Others include presentations from Ty Pennington and Matt Muenster, our gorgeous feature gardens, hundreds of exhibitors, and more! Would you like to see what's in store for the dining room selections for the 2015 Indianapolis Home Show Centerpiece Home? The Touch of Class team has a first look!

Part of the "Modern Hill-Country" theme, home show attendees will be treated to a romantic feel with very dark walls and a ceiling covered in distressed linen-colored tiles.

For the decor, the design team is using an amazing key chandelier that is imaginative and full of drama. The Irving chandelier features a wrought-iron frame hand-finished in a burnished finish. Cast-zing keys are made to look vintage by way of hand-applied antique wash and are then carefully hung at varying heights from the chandelier.

And there will be no rectangle table when it comes to furniture! The home will have a dramatic 60" round table with natural linen chairs. Plus, a very unique feature to the Centerpiece Home Paxton floor plan from Fischer Homes will be two large built-in cabinets covered in reclaimed wood.

Are you interested in adding any of these items to your own home? You can! They will be available for purchase here! And don't forget to come see the finished product at the 2015 Indianapolis Home Show!
